Grad Students

CCG Grad Students

The core of the CCG is our graduate students. We have 15 current students, split almost evenly between Ph.D. and M.Sc. programs. Students start their program with a “warm-up” project that often becomes their thesis. There is strong encouragement to participate in industry projects wherever there is an opportunity and student research may often receive member company input.

Debastuti completed her Bachelor’s from Presidency University, India in 2016. She received her first Master from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad in 2019. During her first Master’s, she worked on the “Spatial Modelling of Central Block Using Geostatistics, Pottangi Bauxite Deposit, Koraput, Odisha, India”.

She worked for the North American Petrophysics team, Schlumberger, operating remotely from the Global Data Services Hub, Mumbai, India between, 2019 and 2020. She attended two training sessions at Schlumberger’s European Learning Center (ELC) in Melun, France. She has handled and gained expertise in both wireline and logging while drilling (LWD) jobs from clients like Exxon and Shell. She completed the project on automating the delivery of LWD acoustic data directly from the field during her tenure with Schlumberger.

She received her second Master’s from the Institute di Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP), University of Paris, France in 2022. During her second Masters, she had the opportunity to do a research internship titled “Geostatistical Modelling with Multispectral Imaging Data” which was part of a collaborative project between the University of Alberta, Canada, and RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

She joined CCG as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Jeff Boisvert in the Fall of 2022 and is currently working on various Machine Learning models for image classification.
